The Great Witch of the Sea

Updated: Nov 9

RuPaul said, “When you become the image of your own imagination, it’s the most powerful thing you could ever do.”

But, what horrors live deep in my imagination! What terrifying creatures cling to my depths not wanting to be seen by a judgmental world that created them.

Beasts of burden, beasts of bullying, beasts with hearts made of coal and soot, looking to devour me in their dark splendor.

One day, curious to know myself, I began to unpack each one.

The fear, at first, was overwhelming.

With every slimy thought and sharpened ideal that surfaced with hostile intent, I became wearier of where I would place them.

Carelessly banished back in a box to risk the emptiness eventually swallowing my abandoned shell?

Certainly not out and open to be fed and grow, nor stifled behind dysmorphic masks of self-invention that no longer fit. No.

Instead, I fell deep within and recklessly embraced each one as I would a grieving child, feeling the harrowing pain of their individual creation and all of their woe of hiding. I warmed their iron souls and forged them into an alliance of armor and protection.

And now, I both greet them with welcomes of love and become them like a shield of energy and strength.

The Great Witch of the Sea - she is the fearsome predator of the deep. Men beware and don't come near, for she'll poison you and steal your spear, and claim you for her trophy wall to keep.
